Can You Take Me To The Washroom?

The power of resiliency and compassion

You must be think why the weird title of this newsletter edition, right?

Last weekend I had a long conversation with a dear friend who is going through an ankle surgery that left her immobile for weeks- hardly able to get up and walk.

It’s going to be 3 months since her surgery and still in recovery mode with physical theory and a little body movement exercise. She has learned how to use crutches, walk in moon boots (I learned it’s around 4 pounds roughly 2 Kgs in weight).

While talking to her I’ve come to realize that it’s a blessing to do tiny things that you took for granted, and walking till the washroom is one of them or in fact getting up from the bed and taking a first step down.

A long process to get yourself together, sit, stand, and walk not only physically but mentally too.

All this is enough to give your mental health a downward spiral if you are unable to do basics that seem not important in daily life. It could make you feel all negative and think about what’s the point of living.

But in the midst of all this, I find my friend with such resiliency and taking one day at a time, doing her best to recover, and heal. What I most admired is compassion. The worst is over, and now each day is to getting better.

This changes your perspective on many things as well.

Every End has a NEW Beginning.

So if you want to take anything away from today’s newsletter- it’s to be kind and compassionate towards your body and mind.

It sounds simple, but it’s not easy.

Nourish it, feed it, but most importantly, respect it each day.
