A Look Inside Hudson County Corrections ICE Facility

I watch detainees cooking, laughing and having fun like we are in a vacation spot. We are not. We are all trying to gain a sense of normality in here, but the reality is, we were brought here against our will, chained hands and feet like criminals. Brought to this monument to a racist, parading as an autocrat with a Nazi agenda based on racial cleansing. His regime, which is based on the acronym M.A.G.A., Make America Great Again, is just a euphemism for Make America White Again.

We have prisons masquerading as civil detainment centers which are truly just modern concentration camps, also known as human dog pounds. These prisons are spread out in the desert, housing hundreds of immigrants in unsanitary, disease ridden conditions. Buses and vans may have replaced the human cargo trains, but an internment camp by any other name is just as atrocious.

The individuals enforcing this reprehensible agenda, dragging their own to these camps, never stop to think that if this continues unabated, one day it may be their own loved ones looking out at, smirking, uncaring, white faces telling them to get out of this country.

Remember the commitment of Ellis Island, “Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

Be a force for good. Don’t turn a blind eye to this gross violation of civil liberties, and massive misappropriation of justice happening this land we claim is home of the free.
