The New Poker Golden Age

The poker climate has been changing. The game is no longer being held hostage in dim-lit basements that can only be accessed by dark, back alleys. Nor is a casino required to bring players together to a common meeting place. Rather, more and more often are people letting the cards fly at their own home games over the kitchen table.

Since the rise of online poker and the end of the golden age of poker, the poker landscape has had some ups and downs, mainly downs. However, the current trends indicate that there is a rise in poker activity among new players. What are we to do with all these new players joining the game? We are to welcome them with open arms and build the poker community. That’s exactly why Magpie Playing Cards is releasing a brand new concept deck called the Poker Deck.

The Poker Deck by Magpie Cards provides you with Texas Hold ’em jargon, pro tips, and strategy on every card. Each card face contains a pro tip or poker definition which can be easily viewed during gameplay, and can be studied like flashcards outside the game. This means guaranteed poker night fun for all players, no matter the level of expertise. With The Poker Deck, newer players will pick up the game more quickly, and experienced players will refine their knowledge and skill level.

Is the next Golden Age of poker on the horizon? It may be, as poker enthusiasts both novice and pro have expressed praise for the Poker Deck. The 2015 WSOP Main Event 15th place finisher and owner of the Piper Down Pub in SLC, UT, Les Pendergraft supports the project and is excited to see the deck help the poker community grow.

The deck is being manufactured by Copag (a subsidiary of Cartamundi) and made from the same 100% plastic material as their signature casino-quality decks. This means the cards are waterproof, long-lasting, and ready for hundreds of game nights to come. The deck will be offered in both red and blue with the possibility of additional colors coming out post-Kickstarter.

The Poker Deck Kickstarter campaign will officially launch on January 12, 2021.
