I’m not a Financial Advisor and this is not advice. I’m sharing what has worked for me.

Investing Foundation:

Account Structure

The 401Ks are the only accounts where we invest in index or Mutual Funds. In those, we found the S&P 500 Fund with the lowest expense ratio (usually Vanguard or Fidelity).

Our Roths and Joint Brokerage account are invested in individual companies.

My Investing History

I began investing in 2011 and had absolutely no idea what I was doing. From 2011–2015, I made a ton of mistakes, learned some tough lessons, and finally found a method that works for me.

Year to Date (Since Jan 1, 2018) my portfolio is up 47%

Since November 2014 (3.5 years) my portfolio is up 102%

For comparison, the S&P 500 is up around 3% YTD and around 46% since November 2014.

Investing for our family is about more than money. It’s about having the freedom to do the things we love.

I want to share some of what I’ve learned to help others learn about investing.
